Theater Group 2024-2025

The Theater Group attends plays together and then gathers afterwards for discussion and a meal. All members, spouses, partners, and friends are invited to join for one or all of the performances. Tickets are purchased as a group.

  1. “Behind the Sun”, History Theater, 30 East 10thStreet, St. Paul. 651-292-4320, Sunday, October 13at 2 PM with a discussion following the play, reservations have been made, tickets are $35.00 each and need to be paid with one credit card by September 12. There are 3 seats in the last row and then 6 seats in two rows. Not the last row, but Row k has no step, you just slide in. I got a study guide from them that we can send to those attending.
  2. Just For Us, Six Points Theater. Highland Park Community Theater, 1978 Ford Parkway, 651-647-4315, Sunday, November 10 at 1 have 12 tickets at $31.50 and money due October 10, payable with one credit card.  The play takes us through hilarious anecdotes from Edelman’s life — his Olympian brother AJ, an unconventional holiday season, and a gorilla that can do sign language — but at its center is an astonishing and frighteningly relevant story. After a string of anti-Semitic abuse is directed at Edelman online, he decides to covertly attend a gathering of White Nationalists in New York City and comes face to face with the alt-right abusers.
  3. Misery”, Lakeshore Theater, 4941 Long Avenue, White Bear Lake, 651-478-7427, Sunday February 9 at 2 PM. We have reservations for 2 people in row N for $28 and 12 people in rows E and F at price of $38 (including their fee for each ticket) for a total of $550. We need to pay by January 9. Row N is standard, and the other is premium seating which is where we have been seated previously. Did I do this correctly, do most people want to sit closer or less expensively?

The plays we have chosen for the 2023-2024 theatre group include:

Sunday, October 1, 2023, at the Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson for “9-5: The Musical”. The play is based on the seminal 1980 hit movie that was later make into a television series and a play.
Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the History Theater, St. Paul, to see “I Am Betty”. Betty Crocker has helped shape American homes and appetites for over a century. She has been a subject of both admiration and scorn as multiple generations have grappled with questions of women’s role in American society.
Sunday, April 14, 2024, at the Stillwater Senior High School to see the talented and versatile students in their spring musical production.

Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the Lakeshore Players Theater, White Bear Lake, to see “Urinetown”. A musical about a water shortage that has led to a government enforced ban on the private toilets in a Gotham-like city. It is a funny and touchingly honest satire on the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, and corporate mismanagement.
